Walk-In X-Ray Service - Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust provides a walk-in X-ray service two days per week (Monday and Wednesday) for patients referred by their GP. This means a patient could see their GP 09:00 Monday morning, and have their X-ray completed by midday. Those images are then reported on promptly by our Radiologists and the results sent back to the GP within just a few days. Hearing Aid Repair Clinic
The Westbury and District League of Friends provide the funding for a Hearing Aid Repair Clinic to be held at the White Horse Health Centre which means that patients don’t have to make the long journey to the RUH when a simple repair can be done locally. A volunteer, Joey Blackburn, who together with her hearing dog, Jody, runs the clinic on the 2nd and 4th Fridays from 09:30 to 12:30. You can make an appointment at reception.
Joey has been volunteering with the RUH Audiology for more than 20 years and has regular training and updates on new hearing aid equipment. At the Westbury clinic Joey provides routine care, maintenance and repair of Hearing aids, which includes re-tubing, replacing parts, cleaning and checking the working and the fit of the aids. Often patients don’t appreciate how much their hearing aids can do for them. Joey can advise and help with problems and can refer to GPs or to the Audiologist if necessary. There is also a wealth of information about devices such as TV, Telephones, Microphones and other equipment, which can make life a great deal easier for people with aids, and Joey will advise when they attend the clinic.
The League of Friends has been supporting the Hearing Aid clinic for many years and plan to continue supporting this much-needed service. We are very appreciative of Joey giving up her free time to run this excellent clinic for the benefit of the community.
