Bratton Surgery

The Tynings used to house big greenhouses for fruit, vegetable and flower beds for Perry's Greengrocers in Westbury. In the 1970s social housing was built on the site for the elderly to rent and live independently. The practice rents one of the ground floor flats, previously the surgery was in the grounds of Hillworth House. Throughout the 1970s a doctor held a surgery in the church hall, privacy was non-existent with the level of activity! Before the Dispensary was setup drugs would be dispensed from chemists in Westbury to the local shop to be handed out. Dr. Higgins was the GP at Bratton Surgery from 1952 to 1974 and lived at Emms Farm.
