Patient Participation Groups

Westbury Group Practice PPG

Who? - The Westbury Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a group of volunteers that vary in terms of age and experience. Our aim is to make sure that we, the patients of Westbury Group Practice, get the most from our Surgery.

What? - The Westbury PPG was formed in 1998. We consist of a team of nine committee members and a membership of around twenty-five people. We meet regularly at the White Horse Health Centre. The PPG meetings are often attended by one GP, the Managing Partner and the Operations Manager.

Why? - Westbury Group Practice, which includes the White Horse Health Centre, Bratton Surgery and Smallbrook Surgery has a vast array of services available and is growing fast. It's innovation in areas such as mental healthcare has been a benchmark to other Surgeries. There is a lot to be proud of, but there is still much to do. We want to help you to understand the services that YOU can access and we want you give your input into the running of the Surgery. We are fully supported by the Doctors and staff at the Practice and meet with them to make sure that we all understand the direction, issues and concerns facing the Surgery.

How? - Should you wish to find out more about the PPG please ask a member of the reception team for a PPG Information Pack.Membership of the PPG is open to all patients registered at the Wesbury Group Practice, we welcome new members.

When? - The following dates have been set for the Westbury PPG meeting during the coming year. Please come along if you are interested in what the Surgery has to offer you and your family. All meetings start at 18:30 and are held at the White Horse Health Centre unless stated otherwise. They are open to everyone and new members are always welcome.

Smallbrook Surgery PPG

Who? - The Smallbrook Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a group of volunteers, of varying age and experience. Our aim is to make sure that we, the patients of Smallbrook, get the most from our Surgery.

What? - The Smallbrook PPG was formed in 2014; it is a legal requirement for every surgery to have a PPG. We consist of a small committee who meet four times a year at the Surgery. The PPG committee invites one of our GPs, the Practice Manager or the Operations Manager to attend our quarterly meetings.

Why? - Smallbrook is now part of the Westbury Group Practice, which includes the White Horse Health Centre in Westbury and Bratton Surgery.  Together we have an excellent array of medical and support services available to all patients and these are continuing to grow. The innovative and pragmatic approach in areas such as mental healthcare has been a benchmark for other Surgeries. The detachment from the Frome Group Practice and joining with Westbury Group has been an unsettling time for all Smallbrook patients. The PPG has continued its work during this process and tried to ensure that the disruptions to patients have been as limited as possible. However, it has been a significant change and the PPG’s aim is to help patients receive the best medical treatment possible, by acting as a “patient/surgery” liaison and communication channel. We want to help you to understand the services that you can access and we want you to give your input into the running of our Surgery. We are fully supported by the Doctors and staff at the Practice and meet with them to make sure that we all understand the direction, issues and concerns facing both patients and the Surgery.

How? - Should you wish to find out more about the PPG please speak to Marie Strachan, Operations Manager at the Practice who will be happy to help.
